Coaching for individuals

unbecome the things you were told you should be.

become more fully you.

There’s an unexpressed and exquisite part of you that is longing to be set free. It can feel difficult to acknowledge and even more daunting to act upon. You’ve done all the “right” things so far… met the expectations and created the life you “should” want, but you still feel unsatisfied. You know something needs to shift, but making changes could be disruptive because the stakes feel high. As a people pleaser or a “good girl,” you’ve sacrificed harmony with yourself in favor of harmony with others, sometimes trading your authenticity for approval. You wonder, “Do I want this? Or have I just been socialized to want this?”

Now, you’re finding yourself being awakened by a persistent inner call to seek what is missing from the life you’ve so carefully constructed, even if it means deserting social prescriptions and others’ expectations. That simultaneously terrifies and electrifies you. You fantasize about the paths not taken. It’s hard to admit to yourself that you might want a different kind of life. You ache for more… more passion, more depth, more grit, more truth, more freedom… to be more fully YOU.

You essentially have two choices: Repeat what you’ve been doing day in and day out…

or you can evolve and EMERGE.

What is coaching?

(and how does it differ from counseling/psychotherapy?)

As a practitioner who pivoted from therapy/counseling to coaching in 2020, I get this question a lot. If you Google it, you’ll learn that the primary difference between coaching and counseling is that counseling (or therapy) centers around managing mental health challenges and may include diagnosis and treatment of a mental health condition. Counseling is a regulated mental health service provided by professionals who have accredited training in the field of mental health and can only be provided to clients in the state where the counselor is licensed. (For example, I remain a licensed professional counselor in the state of Colorado, and if I were offering myself as a counselor/therapist, I would only be able to see clients residing in Colorado. Luckily, that’s not the case!)

Coaching focuses on identifying present and future intentions, leveraging strengths, and taking steps toward your personal growth and evolution. It helps clients to clarify desires while identifying obstacles and patterns that may stand in the way of them. Coaches help clients to create actionable plans to create the life they want. Coaching can be provided to clients regardless of location, anywhere worldwide. The essence of coaching is partnership. Unlike most counseling relationships where you are paying per session, when entering into in a coaching relationship with me, you are signing up for ongoing support, including between session invitations, care, and feedback.

Most life coaches are not mental healthcare professionals; however, the good news for you is that I bring a wealth of education and two decades of experience as a psychotherapist to my coaching practice. I am a trauma-informed, licensed counselor, and I’m trained in several psychotherapeutic and healing modalities, such as art therapy, Hakomi, Reiki, the chakra system, the enneagram, ceremony, etc. Though engaging in a coaching relationship with me is not counseling, I bring a uniquely strong foundation of attentive, affirming, and clinically informed care to my coaching work.

In addition to applying a solid, rich, and profound coaching approach to our work together, I come with an abundant cauldron of offerings. Every coaching relationship is unique and customized to your quest and curiosities. In our co-created space, we may choose to call upon any of the following practices, including but not limited to: journaling, art-making + art therapy prompts, guided visualization exercises, designing personal rituals + ceremonies, energetic counseling + the chakra system, the enneagram, dreamwork, supports from the earth (such as stones and plants), supports from the unseen world (such as archetypes, guides, and ancestors), divination (tarot or oracle cards, etc), astrology, and working with seasonal and celestial cycles. For me, it’s important to keep things that feel “woo woo” deeply grounded and to be respectful by aligning with one’s own cultural lineage.

As your coach, I will be your companion, cheerleader, and guide who asks the good-kind-of-hard questions and holds you accountable as you traverse the often messy, non-linear path of transition. Our partnership is a confidential, accepting, safe container wherein we can explore how you wish to uplevel to a more whole, more integrated, more expressed, and more FREE version of your self.

testimonials from coaching clients

At age 53, I found myself in the confusing territory of my own unexpected, late-in-life, sexuality emergence... as a gay woman who also was married to a wonderful man. I was feeling isolated, confused and lonely Jen made me feel seen more than ever; she held me like a warm hug as she offered her calming, empathetic wisdom. Her guidance helped me navigate some new scary sexuality-related waters. Jen brings her experience as a psychotherapist, coach, and someone who has also personally dealt with her own late-in-life sexuality emergence issues, our work together was always perfectly focused on what I needed each session. After each session, I felt more empowered, more clear-headed and more confident with living as my authentic self. Jen helped me connect with and love the authentic, strong woman I am today. Having Jen’s support along this journey has been one of the best decisions of my life.
Before working with Jen, I was stuck in a place I had been circling for years — tired, overwhelmed, and quietly losing hope that meaningful change was possible. I had spent nearly a decade trying to work through a complex personal situation and had sought support from multiple professionals along the way. Despite my effort, nothing truly shifted. By the time I found Jen, I was close to believing that my situation was either too complicated to understand or simply unchangeable.

From the start, the work felt fundamentally different. Jen brings a level of precision, depth, and presence that makes it impossible to stay on the surface. The pace was intentional, the questions were exacting, and the work required honesty — not performance. I quickly realized how much I didn’t yet understand about my own patterns, and what surprised me most was how carefully and skillfully those insights were revealed. Nothing was rushed, and nothing was softened to make it easier to avoid what needed to be revealed.

The work went further than I ever expected. Jen meets you exactly where you are and then holds you to what you say you want — with clarity, intelligence, and care. She offers structure, language, and tools that create real movement, but she is equally committed to accountability. You are supported, and you are also asked to show up fully. That combination is rare.

Over time, this work changed the way I relate to myself. I no longer rely on appearing confident; I trust myself at a deeper level. I listen to my body. I take my intuition seriously. Feeling stuck no longer signals failure — it signals something worth paying attention to. I am still growing, but I am grounded in a way I wasn’t before, and I move through my life with far more honesty and self-trust.

This work is not for someone looking for reassurance or easy answers. It is for people who are ready to tell the truth to themselves, examine long-held beliefs, and take responsibility for meaningful change. For anyone seeking depth, integrity, and a guide who will meet them with both compassion and rigor, I cannot recommend Jen’s work highly enough.
Jen’s Midlife Emergence coaching was exactly what I’ve been looking for in my life! I loved her approach to helping women who are feeling the bumpiness of this transitional time of life. She comes to each session with such a comforting and powerful blend of “life coach,” “therapist,” and “supportive friend.” I felt so fully seen by her, both during our calls and afterwards when her thoughtful and spot-on follow-up emails would hit my inbox. She gets it. She’s lived it. And it’s impossible not to feel the comfort of that in sessions with her.
Working with Jen helped me to build a sense of confidence and curiosity about my intrinsic aliveness, and what I can do to amplify it even more. Jen’s gentle inquiries and support enabled me to reframe some of my own questions and perspectives about my situation in ways that felt affirming and joyful. She’s a compassionate guide and listener, which was extremely empowering because it allowed me to meet the changes in my life with a similar sense of compassion. A few months out from our work together, I’ve unburdened myself of so much of what I was previously carrying alone. I feel much more supported by life in general and confident that I have the tools to care for myself, move in the direction of my heart’s deepest bliss, and bring curiosity, vitality, and even humor into my personal growth process.
I woke up late in life yearning for something more! I was lost trying to answer the question “so what do I want?!?” I discovered Jen’s Midlife Emergence practice; her book, her facilitated groups and 1:1 coaching. I have so appreciated Jen’s writing and the richness of her prompts (art, writing, poetry, spiritual rituals) to expand my thinking and the extraordinary experience of truth telling in a small group council format to explore my desires out loud in a safe community of women who are on a similar journey. My advice is don’t go it alone if you are pondering big questions in your life. Get the support you deserve!
Jen helped me to make sense of the anxieties and fears of this tumultuous time of passage and take steps to make concrete changes in my life. I am moving forward now with more clarity, bravery and confidence. Jen’s empathy and ability to ‘read’ me are extraordinary.
In any rite of passage, we need wise elders or guides to hold space for us during the threshold seasons of our lives. Otherwise, we risk stumbling around in the dark, taking the long way home. That’s how I see Jen — as an incredibly wise and intuitive guide who holds space for you to do the work, whilst keeping you emboldened, self-reflective, and inspired throughout your own unique emergence journey. While the process of transformation is personal, this doesn’t mean that it should be experienced in private. In the right relationships and communities, where we feel deeply seen and heard, we can come to truly find ourselves.
Jen’s guidance came at a perfect time in my life. I wasn’t even sure what or if I needed something, and now I am finding out about patterns that I had covered onto which I am able to compassionately shine a light.
Having Jen as a witness is an invaluable experience. Each coaching session felt aligning. Jen provided me with guidance to the things in my Self that I (and that we all) can overlook. Jen was there to listen and carefully place parts of my reclaimed Self on a virtual altar, alongside new discoveries.
Jen’s prompts for deep reflection and discovery using journaling, art, and spirituality helped me open my mind and heart to make immediate and long term shifts to create the life I want to build. Some shifts I have made are subtle and some are substantial, and she has held me while gently pushing me to go deeper and to sit in the uncomfortable spaces to make real change.
Midlife coaching has really helped me in this critical time of self-discovery. At a time of life when all of the pressures of caring for others (aging parents, partners, children, etc.,) feel so heavy and distracting, this material has helped me look inward, find my inner voice, nurture it, and move more authentically and deliberately toward the life I want in my second act.
